New feature of VLC Player : Real-Time AI creating and translating subtitles in more than 100 language
CSE 2025 event is running from January 07 to 10 in Las Vegas. CES is the most powerful tech event in the world. VLC, the popular open-source video player showcases new AI feature on the stage of CES 2025. It's AI generates and translate subtitle for videos locally ad offline in real time. Jean Baptiste Kempf, president of VideoLAN, showed the feature in a video which uses open-source AI models to generate subtitles fr videos in many languages. AI-powered subtitling has been under development in the form of plug-in using OpenAI's speech recognition system Whisper, but this new demo appears to be built directly into the VLC app and generates translated subtitle in real time. Kempf said that it runs on our machine locally, offline, without any cloud services.
